ROOTZONE HUMUS, MORE THAN FERTILIZER ROOTZONE HUMUS is not a fertilizer. Although this totally organic soil food has some characteristics of fertilizer, it is much more. ROOTZONE HUMUS is a balanced diet which brings balanced nutrients to the rhizosphere. ROOTZONE HUMUS makes plant energy intake, through osmosis, less complicated. (Billions of microorganisms are doing most of the work.) ROOTZONE HUMUS establishes a nutrient sub-cycle; including available Nitrogen, which ensures a reaction of aminization...(proteins to amino acids) and amonification...(amino compounds to ammonia NH3 and ammonium NH4 +.) Mineralization is then released by the actions of beneficial microbial tribes throughout the growing season. (This process is much preferred as compared to a shocking dose of a limited duration as experienced with artificial fertilizers, (harsh chemicals), applied periodically.) The above information is confirmed by research completed in 1968 by Elder & Kube, US Department of the Interior. Data confirming these facts can be found recorded in Bureau of Mines US Investigation # 7203. | ROOTZONE Humus Application Rates I will repeat what I always say, when asked about ROOTZONE Humus application quantities: "Please show me a comprehensive soil audit which will give me an indication of the soil condition where my product will be used. I also need to know about the nutrient needs of plants being grown in the target location." I am interested in knowing these facts so that I can be most accurate. Fact is, I rarely receive the information I seek. Still, we are able to help, using a generalized approach which has always seemed to satisfy everyone but me...,(still wanting a copy of the soil audit...) The product has always worked fine, even without the soil audits I keep seeking. On turf grasses; domestic front, back, side yards: 150 to 300 pounds per 1000 sq. ft. (The application rate can be as low as 50 pounds per 1000 sq. ft. Remember, these suggestions are being made without benefit of a comprehensive soil audit. I usually recommend higher rates due to possibility that chemical fertilizers are still in the target soil/turf, and remediation may be needed.) To feed potted plants, usually a quarter cup to half cup per 6" pot. Blend with the potting soil, even if some commercial fertilizer has been mixed into the growing media at the nursery where the plants came from. Small trees in pots, (like those black plastic tubs suppliers like to use): Mix in 25% ROOTZONE Humus, throughout the growing media. (You can use less, but I use this method and get great results, even with stressed plants. ROOTZONE Humus can not burn, so, more is OK.) ROOTZONE Humus is full of living beneficial microorganisms and beneficial fungi. These helpful "critters" will continue to release food and energy to plants, over many weeks. We recommend applications in spring and fall, and anytime you think the time is right. |
