You are probably aware that soils used as media to support grasses in high traffic areas need to be soils containing stable humus in adequate percentages. | Rootzone lab reports. Click-on "Rootzone lab reports," to read the values of latest samples. John Wear: Various blends are suggested, using "ROOTZONE HUMUS" as a "carrier." Some of the mixes or blends are being used, repeatedly, by successful growers in many locations. Various special blends are being examined at universities. Several golf courses have developed "customized" amendments using "ROOTZONE HUMUS" as both liquid carrier and spreadable bulk carrier. The various methods work fine. | CGCS: I have read that some organic products might be able to help control turf diseases and tree problems. Do you have any experience with this? John Wear: Yes. Disease resistance and continuing well being of both supporting soil and root-plant connection will be probable with continuing applications of 100 to 300 pounds of "ROOTZONE HUMUS" per 1,000 square ft. Spring and Fall applications should be made at this rate. It is a good practice to topdress with "ROOTZONE HUMUS" when aerating is done. Compost tea can be made from our bulk compost products. If kept very aerobic, the resulting liquid works as an energetic stimulant for turf and woody plants. We are always eager to help with development of customized amendments. |

| CGCS: Is there any way the increased humus can cause problems with the golf greens, fairways, or tee boxes? Can I burn my turf by using too much of your stuff? Will your compost stink like some of the other organic products we have tried? I can't afford to make any mistakes. John Wear: We have been working with humus products since about 1989. My own experience has led me to understand that well composted organic matter has special characteristics which stimulate plant root activity and heal contaminated soils. We have never had complaints that our products burn or tie-up nutrients. Our focus always includes making sure we complete all processes necessary to provide a pure and reliable product. We have found that it is possible to develop and to keep available large quantities of beneficial soil amendments which are high in humic and fulvic content. Our products are reliable. "ROOTZONE HUMUS" has that sweet soil smell, caused by the active presence of actinomycetes and other beneficial microbe tribes. Our products don't have a stink left in them. Really, it is the product of the product I consider most of the time. This is a key point. You are looking for real assistance, reliable alternatives to the synthetic methods which became so popular through the years. | CGCS: You mentioned "humic and fulvic" content. Does that have to do with humic acid? I read about humic and fulvic substances having something to do with growth stimulation. Are these substances like auxins? Are you talking about plant growth hormones? Is this about the energy release to my plant roots? Wll this stuff keep my grass healthy? John Wear: Cell growth stimulation and plant health are certainly benefited when "ROOTZONE HUMUS" is applied to turf, root areas of trees and other plants. The humic acids and fulvic acids dissolve minerals which are present in the root areas. The dissolving makes transposition possible. Vitamins, coenzymes, hormones, auxins, and other substances become available through osmosis. The process of osmosis brings energy and antibiotic values into plant tissues.
